Just under four weeks ago, the kick-off meeting for our Meetup platform took place. With a group of 11 people we started the adventure eduPreneurship!
The round of introductions showed that the group was made up of teachers, experienced entrepreneurs, and people interested in education and entrepreneurship; a diverse and multilingual group in whose exchanges the many interests and expertise quickly became apparent.
We discussed digitization in education, the innovation dilemma - exploitation vs. exploration - and we heard about the Open Innovation Challenge initiative.
The goal of the first meeting was to share ideas about what we mean by eduPreneurship and explore what our needs and desires are for the platform. In summary, two main directions or themes emerged as to what is meant by eduPreneurship:
Educators who want to change the way education is delivered; a partially philosophical discussion about education
Educators who have an idea or project but lack the knowledge to turn their ideas into an eduStartup.
An exciting basis for the next online meeting, where we want to discuss further, learn and get to know innovative programs and projects around Basel!
